CLOSEST THING TO A PLAN TO LIVE FOREVER
By Variety IS the Spice of Life
This is an update of a book that was used as a textbook in a degree program for a Doctorate in Holistic Nutrition. I took out my old textbook, to which I still occasionally refer and did a rough comparison to see if it was worth it to me to buy it. I decided it was.
First, I should note that ANY book by Elton Haas is worth the money to buy and the time to read it. This one, in particular, opens your eyes and mind to many concepts of eating that you are unlikely to run across in a magazine or TV segment. Its based on Science, Holistic Practices, and everyday life of very health, highly conscious people who take everything they do into consideration under the banner of Health and WellBeing. Seasonal eating is not a new concept, but its also not one you're likely to find in the mass market (that pushes fast food, packaged food, pre-cooked food ALL of which is highly provessed and modified. At what point is it really Still Food?) which seems to want to sell you a specific something to go with their book or TV program... This book is selling you ONLY on the info you need to get and stay vibrantly healthy, with real FOOD, nothing else. It's clear on how to accomplish that, why its worth it and how to keep it once you get it. NO products are pushed, other than real, healthy, foods you will buy where you live. This is a lifechanger. The cost is the book, (cheaper than a DR's visit) and the foods you will be choosing. The Rewards will be 1. control of your own health 2. Building Vibrant health (less illness, more strength, glowing complextion, shiny hair, strong nails, etc.) 3. Clear mind and Clear path to take on whatever comes. 4. Clarity... in many ways. And do not forget How your body (and your family) will thank you for this decision.

Is it a lot of work? Depending on where you are, maybe, possibly, probably, BUT what change isn't work? The motivation is in the result, which, after a rather short, naturally occuring detox process, (from which you can learn a LOT!) will have payoffs that keep on giving. Then, you won't ask that question anymore. Seasonal eating was always the NORM before we began to think that all foods come from the supermarket and forgot they come from the Earth and animals... There's a gift each season offers humans... each unique and strengthening in its own way. Following this concept easily insures each person gets the variety and nutritional support needed to survive, enjoy, and build a healthy happy mind/body/soul to enjoy throughout your lifetime. Most people are quite close to this concept without realizing they live this way already. This books will fill in details, expand an old habit you rely upon. There's nothing earth shattering here, its just puts into words and shows you "how to" use the Bounty of the Earth as it has always been available for your health KNOWINGLY, deliberately, mindfully. The result is incredible health, and the happiness and vibrancy that accompanies it.

    Just Fabulous!!!
    By MsMontaraBeach
This book met and exceeded my expectations. Several of my instructors had nonchalantly recommended this book. But the descriptions of how different foods impact the body have inspired me, as no other book before, to change my eating habits. I began reading about "late summer" first, and I was hooked. This book ties in perfectly with the study of acupressure and traditional Chinese Medicine. It is written in a manner that is not only informative but also memorable, systematic, and a pleasure to read. I particularly love the chart about food combining, the list of acid vs alkaline foods, and all the fabulous diagrams interspersed throughout. Well done!

    Guidelines for the seasons
    By Leigh Powell
This book includes some cleansing tips and a few recipes. It introduces the Chinese seasons, the yin-yang of the season, the food types that are best for your season (5 in all, it includes a late summer/early autumn). It has a lot of instructional/diet book philosophy, if you want to be told what to do step by step. I wanted to know which foods were seasonal (not being a farmer), and some information on what to avoid. I thought Animal Vegetable Miracle provides a lot of that latter information. Overall, anything Haas writes is good and instructional. It helps reinforce my desire to eat unaltered, fresh foods that grow in the season we are in. THAT will help us to increase our nutrient intake and lose weight, for those who are working toward THAT goal.
