Great Book for Beginner/Intermediate Users

If you're just starting out using Camera Raw in Photoshop or Elements I think this is a great book to start with. If you are, however, fairly experienced, it probably is going to help you only nominally. I think the layout of the book is very nice and there is very little "fluff". I think the problem some of the reviewers have with this book is that it wasn't matched with their experience level. I personally feel this is a well done book even for intermediate users.

Excellent introduction

I bought this book because I had started shooting in RAW format and, whilst I could see a difference, I wasn't clear on all the advantages.

I picked up a copy of PS Elements, too (from Amazon, great price) and I'm already seeing a big improvement in my finished photos.

The book demystifies RAW and the benefits (and pitfalls) of using various tools within PSE (I have Paint Shop Pro too and most of the tools are available within that, too, although the book only shows you how to use PSE and the full Photoshop product).

For the price, I am very pleased with this book, as far as I'm concerned it paid for itself in terms of photo quality within days.

Before I got it I looked at a significant number of other RAW books (many costing two, three or more times the price of this one) in person, rather than online, but none were as clear as this book.

Great Introduction to Raw

I have been shooting with my Canon 30D/40D for sometime in jpeg. The whole while I knew there was a RAW mode but I didn't know how or why one uses it (other than the generic "it offers more control").

This book is an outstanding intro to answer both questions. In really clear style it gave both the theory (which for RAW is really important) and the practical applications of raw using and processing images with Adobe Camera RAW. The improvement in the final image quality from developing a raw file yourself vs letting the camera create a jpeg for you with its standard settings is really staggering .

The only part of the book I didn't think was "outstanding" was the chapter on workflow. Here the book was was "good." Having shot my last vacation in RAW, I understand completely why a book on RAW should address workflow as it becomes a major part of the process. The problem is the subject of workflow is really tied to whatever programs you are using (photoshop, Bridge, lightroom, iView, etc). The author did about as well as possible given the book is written to users of photoshop and elements. In th end, I went out and bought a book on Adobe Lightroom which is what I am not using.

Restored My Faith in This Genre!!!

I don't give 5 Stars easily but I was so impressed that someone finally got an ending right. I HATE these serial novels that are just one story haphazardly broken into pieces to sell more books. The "cliffhanger" endings usually leave me feeling cold and no longer interested in what happens since absolutely nothing is left resolved. Ms. LaTrice, you have restore my faith in this genre immensely. I got my resolutions, my happy ever after (maybe not so happy by according to the last page?) and one hell of a surprise ending. The only things I found hard to swallow were Kendrick getting out of bed 30 minutes after coming out of a coma, but this is fiction after all so I won't focus too hard on that. The second was it was tough keeping track of all of the characters, especially with all of the K names, but I've read a lot worse on that front. And finally I wish you had made the girls at least 18 from the start, they still could have been high school seniors and I wouldn't have felt like To Catch A Predator needed to do a Baltimore edition just for them. I did like the storyline overall, as it was fun. To be honest, even if I had hated it, I would still give you 5 stars for giving your readers a COMPLETE story with a Beginning, Middle and End. Bravo. I think a lot of writers in your genre could learn from you and this novel.

I would, give this book 20 stars if I could. It picked up right where it left off and came stronger with the Drama. These women love them King boys but so do the thots. With the thots scheming to break them up and be the next Mrs. King and men trying to take over their spots... Them Kings show and prove that they rule with a iron fist and they protect their queen by any means. Another CERTIFIED BANGER cannot wait for the next installment.

I love this I give it 20 stars I was into this book from part one to part two. I love the brothers and their cousin and crew Dannille only was lucky she end up with damian I like the girls they fought for their men I was shock when kendrick just coming out of coma went on a rampage their parents an d unlce was no joke love the action karma was. Busy but not over yet love the ending now I have to wait for part three it just got real

Umschlaggestaltung von Thomas Schultz-Overhage unter Verwendung des Bildes: Jacques Callot, Zwei Pantalonen, 1616. Gesetzt aus Minion Pro, 11 pt. �ber den Autor: 1776 in K�nigsberg auf die Vornamen Ernst Theodor Wilhelm getauft, nennt er sich sp�ter aus Verehrung f�r Mozart Ernst Theodor Amadeus oder kurz E.T.A. Hoffmann. Er studiert Jura in K�nigsberg, wird Referendar am Berliner Kammergericht, wegen Karikaturen auf preu�ische Offiziere strafversetzt nach Polen und schlie�lich Kapellmeister in Bamberg. Bis er 1814 nach Berlin zur�ckkehrt widmet er sein k�nstlerisches Schaffen vornehmlich der Musik. Er wird zum Kammergerichtsrat berufen, gr�ndet den Serapinenorden und schreibt seine gro�en Romane, Die Elixiere des Teufels und die Lebensansichten des Katers Murr, sowie zahlreiche Erz�hlungen, deren vorletzte, der Meister Floh, beschlagnahmt wird, weil der preu�ische Polizeidirektor in der Figur des Knarrpanti eine Satire auf seine Person sieht. 1822 erkrankt E.T.A. Hoffmann schwer und diktiert - v�llig gel�hmt - vom Sterbebett aus die Erz�hlung Des Vetters Eckfenster, in der der gro�e Romantiker sich dem kritischen Realismus ann�hert bevor er am 25. Juni in Berlin stirbt.

About the Author
Hoffmann wurde am 24.1.1776 in K�nigsberg geboren. Sein Vater war Advokat. Nach dem Gymnasium in K�nigsberg studierte er von 1792-1795 Jura. Als Referendar arbeitete er 1796 in Glogau und 1798 in Berlin. Ab 1800 arbeitete er als Assessor in Posen, wurde strafversetzt nach Plozk in Polen. Etwa 1805 zog er nach Berlin, wo sich seine Begabung als Musiker, Zeichner und Schriftsteller vollends entwickeln konnte. Ab 1814 war er wieder am Kammergericht in Berlin angestellt. Hoffmann starb am 25.6.1822 in Berlin.
